This course is suitable for all those working with any compressed gas and associated equipment in both industrial and laboratory environments. Typical applications might include calibration, packaging, production and analysis.

Course content

Attendance provides the information required to understand the specific hazards associated with compressed gases such as Nitrogen, CO2, Hydrogen and Argon and other gases used in Laboratory or Industrial applications.

This course includes instruction on 'after use' checks of the system and all in service equipment, this follows CP47 code of practice published by the BCGA. Our training courses are constantly changing to reflect current industry recommendations.

Course Content Compressed Gas User

After the classroom element of the course (3.5 hours) learners will have an understanding of:

Operator behaviours

Gas properties & hazards

Flammable toxic & special gases

Cylinder identification & data

Gas equipment

Emergency procedures

PPE

Cylinder storage & handling

Legislation & Codes of Practice

During the practical element of the course (1 hour) learners will have the opportunity to undertake:

Before-use checks including leak checking
Regulator fitting
Manual handing of cylinders
NEW After use checks

Course Outcomes

After successfully passing a multiple-choice test and practical assessment a Certificate of Achievement & Gas Safety Passport demonstrating the delegate has been provided with, and has understood, the safety requirements for the safe use of compressed gases and equipment. Certificate validity is 3 years.
