We were proud to sponsor the recent Women in Welding event held in June at CATCH, where over 20 enthusiastic Year 10 and Year 12 students had the opportunity to dive into the dynamic world of welding and fabrication.
This hands-on event offered students a unique chance to explore career paths in the welding industry, guided by inspiring female professionals. Among them was our very own Jemma McCafferty, Applications Specialist at Air Products and a fully qualified welder. Jemma shared her personal journey, offering valuable insights into the industry and highlighting the exciting opportunities available for women in engineering and skilled trades.
At Air Products, we’re passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion in engineering. Supporting events like this is part of our ongoing commitment to encouraging more young women to consider careers in STEM and the skilled trades.
A huge thank you to the team at CATCH and to all the students who participated—you are the future of welding!
CATCH is a leading training and skills development centre supporting the process, engineering, and energy sectors across the Humber, Yorkshire, and Lincolnshire regions. In addition to hosting the WorldSkills UK regional welding finals, where two of their apprentices advanced to the national stage, CATCH continues to champion diversity through initiatives like the Women in Welding event—now in its second year and quickly becoming a key fixture in the calendar.
